Jackson Accuser Pleads no Contest

A woman who claimed Michael Jackson molested her son has been ordered to perform150 hours of community service and repay more than $8,000 to the county social services department, after she pleaded no contest to welfare fraud. Although the woman`s defense attorney continues to believe that her client had a viable case against Jackson, she respects her client`s wish to plead no contest so she can get on with her life.

The singer was acquitted last year following her accusation and was found not guilty of child molestation. Jurors are saying that what played a major part in the acquittal was the plaintiff`s past. Jackson`s lawyers made a case of portraying the woman as a con artist who schemed to get money from celebrities and through fraudulent legal claims. According to the prosecutors, she had hid the fact that she received a substantial settlement in a civil suit against J.C. Penney before she filed for welfare.

Meanwhile Jackson is trying to get his career back on track, and is set to appear Wednesday at the World Music Awards and perform "Thriller."
