John Speaks his Mind
Following the debate in Britain over the right to wear the Muslim Veil, Elton John said in an interview that "Religion should be banned completely". He said this in a special "Gay edition" of the Observer, and besides religion, he spoke of matters he was made famous for, music. John recalls the days after 9/11 when he called upon religious leaders of the world to unite, or at least meet and talk about a cease to violence and hatred.
John has a bone to pick with organized religion, as he says that it lacks compassion. He believes that religion has always tried to turn hatred towards gay people, the people for whom he fights day and night for.
John said he was happy to be viewed as the "acceptable face of gayness" and was proud to have a happy partnership with his long-term partner, the Canadian film director David Furnish.
