Cosby Settles Lawsuit
Bill Cosby, television actor and producer, has just settled a lawsuit with a woman who has accused him of drugging and molesting her. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed to the press and further comments were not to be made, according to Cosby`s publicist, David Brokaw.
The settlement comes approximately two years after the woman, an Ontario native, claimed that Cosby assaulted her at his mansion in Cheltenham after giving her pills. Attorneys for Cosby say he gave the woman a Benadryl allergy tablet after she complained of stress and sleeping problems. Although she calls Cosby "A friend and a Mentor" she decided a year after the encounter to go to the police and continued to file a lawsuit against the actor.
Cosby has been going through legal issues for a while now, and has asked the federal judge presiding over the case to shield the names of a dozen other women who say he assaulted them. Some of the accusations raised by the other women go back for decades, and none have pending lawsuits filed against him. Cosby had his years in the spotlight up until the early 90`s, and he is most remembered for his role in The Cosby Show, which became one of the most durable family comedies in the history of television.
