Tom Cruise Joins Management Team at United Artists
Mega movie star, Tom Cruise has announced a deal with the management team of United Artists, which will see him earning himself a generous stake in the company and producing four movies annually. Three months ago, after a fourteen-year working relationship, Cruise left Paramount Pictures after a major fallout with the company. Cruise will be joined by his business partner, Paula Wagner, who left Paramount in his footsteps.
Paramount was quoted as saying that Cruise?s ?recent conduct has not been acceptable? and this is what led to a severance in ties between the two. His public opinions about the use of anti-depressants and his extremely public relationship with Katie Holmes led Paramount to the decision not to renew its deal with the star. Paula Wagner, however, has told the media that it was actually her and Cruise who made the decision to leave.
Cruise enjoys incredible popularity in the world. His three Mission : Impossible movies have brought in an astounding $2-billion in revenues. His relationship with Katie Holmes and the subsequent birth of their baby, Suri, has kept him in the limelight on an almost continual basis this past year. In an August poll, which asked which celebrity people would most like as a best-friend, Cruise came in a dismal last. However, Forbes named him the world?s most powerful celebrity this year.
