Russell Crowe Says US Legal System is ?Open to Be Misused?
It seems that the New Zealand born actor, Russell Crowe can?t keep himself out of the limelight for long. In an interview to CBS recently, Crowe criticized the United States? legal system and said that an incident last year, that had him arrested and charged, would have been dealt with in a much different way, had it taken place in his adopted Australia.
Last year, Crowe was arrested after throwing a telephone at a hotel concierge in rage. He had been trying to dial his wife out of the Mercer Hotel in Manhattan?s Soho disctrict and was having difficulties with the connection. In a temper tantrum, Crowe threw the phone at the hotel employee who had him arrested over the assault. Crowe was given a one-year unconditional discharge and reached a settlement with the hotel worker who sued him over the attack. In an interview last week, Crowe said that in Australia, the matter would have been resolved ?with a handshake and an apology?.
Russell Crowe seems to have changed his tune over the incident since he returned to Australia. While he publicly apologized during the David Letterman show in June and called the incident shameful, his role as host of the Australian Filming Industry awards had him joking about the affair as he carried a large, old-fashioned telephone onto the stage and threatened anyone whose thank-you speech took to long with it.
