Tuba Player of the Movies Dies at 71

Tommy Johnson, the man responsible for one of the most memorable theme notes in movies, has died on October 16th at the age of 71. When the movie Jaws first came out in 1975, people were afraid to go to the beach. The movie was accepted by the audience as truly terrifying, and the experience was unforgettable. Jaws has Tommy Johnson ?among many other people- to thank for its whopping success. Johnson played the tuba theme note that became the identifying characteristic of the film, and that will be never forgotten.

Johnson died as a result of cancer complications and kidney failure. The famous tuba player participated in many films and gave each and every one their special identifying piece. Johnson`s repertoire includes films such as "The Godfather", the "Star Trek" series and also "Titanic". Johnson also worked with many television productions and played for various shows. Johnson also taught music, and was a gifted teacher. He gave lessons at music schools in Los Angeles and groomed many young musicians.

Johnson`s long career spans over 50 years and thousands of movies. His unique tuba notes gave films a special atmosphere that arguably made the difference between a memorable film and a film that you would forget once leaving the cinema. The people responsible for the music score are not as famous and recognized as the actors that appear on the big screen, but their contribution to the art of movies is irreplaceable.
