Shakira Takes Latin Grammy by Storm

Top Latin pop singer, Shakira, was the grand winner of the Latin Grammy awards that was help on Thursday night. Shakira took no less than four awards home with her, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year. All major awards went to Shakira in a night she will never forget. The Latin Grammy awards are the highest honor for Latin singers, and Shakira took advantage of the opportunity to promote the case of immigrants working illegally in the United States.

Shakira is known for her hit song "La Tortura", and people watching the awards could enjoy a special version of the song. Shakira preformed a one time duet with Alejandro Sanz, and gave a brilliant performance doing so. The song is featuring on Shakira`s album, "Fijacion Oral Vol. 1", which won an award for its engineers.

The Latin Grammy awards were held at Madison Square Garden, New York. This year was the seventh year, that the location is hosting the awards ceremony. Previous Latin Grammy awards were held either in Miami or Los Angeles. With so many Spanish speakers in the United States, the Latin Grammy Awards is a major event in the industry, and enjoy great popularity and prestige.
