Idol?s ?Velvet Teddy Bear? Plans a Comeback

After winning the 2003 American Idol?s title, Ruben Studdard was heading for the stars. The nation fell in love with his round physique and crooning voice and dubbed him the ?Velvet Teddy Bear?. Studdard?s first album, Soulful, went platinum almost instantaneously and people were convinced that there was no stopping him. Unfortunately, as is usually the case in the entertainment world, interest in Studdard suddenly ceased as attention turned to other Idol stars. In fact, his 2004 gospel album hardly got an iota of attention.

However, Ruben Studdard recently spoke to the media about is plans for a comeback. The 28-year old is on the verge of releasing his third album, aptly entitled, The Return and is hoping that the public will start to take his singing talents seriously. Studdard has lost over 70 pounds in weight, following a strict vegetarian-based diet and he hopes that his new size will add to his improved image as a singer.

While Ruben was named American Idol in 2003, many in the music industry feel that the true winner of the competition was runner-up, Clay Aiken. Aiken?s records have sold millions of copies and he still continues to wow the crowds when he appears. He is also due to release a new album soon and will be appearing in the popular soap-opera, ?Days of our Lives? to promote two of his songs.
