Nick Lachey Digging for Gold

We ain`t saying he`s a gold digger, be he certainly isn`t divorcing any broke chick. Nick Lachey is trying very hard to expedite the divorce proceedings with his wife Jessica Simpson, and it is causing a stir in the entertainment world. The once happily married couple, who stared in MTV`s "Newlyweds" and even had Sonny and Cher like variety specials, announced that they were planning on divorcing earlier this year. Initially it seemed that the divorce would be an amicable one, but Nick Lachey is trying to get out quick.

So, why the rush to close the deal? It does seemed suitable that the couple who rushed to the alter would rush for a completed divorce, but most people would assume that it was Jessica trying to get out, not the other way around. In fact, last month Nick Lachey told an entertainment magazine that he is still in love with the pop singer, have things gone sour so fast? Perhaps Nick is in such a desperate rush because he needs the money so bad, the man is used to living the life, thanks to his more than wealthy life, but alone, well, he`s just not cutting it in the entertainment industry.

Nick Lachey has even stated that he would settle for a $5 million settlement, which is significantly lower to what he is entitled to. The fact is, Mr. Lachey needs money to keep his Bel Air mansion alongside his $2 million condo that is currently being build in LA. Jess on the other hand has been reported to be taking her time with all the details of the divorce. She understands full well that divorces in the entertainment industry can get dirty, and that would land her right in the gossip columns. As a result she wants to ensure that every step she is taking is the right step to a happy rest of her life.
