Survivor to Survive Jail Time

If you can survive 42 days in Borneo with little to eat, little to shelter yourself with and even more difficult, survive being voted off by your fellow survivors, it is safe to assume that you could survive a stint in jail. But only time will time for new jailbird Richard Hatch. The former reality TV entertainment star will next be seen in a 4 year jail sentence. He was found guilty of tax fraud when he failed to pay taxes on his million dollar Survivor win. Silly Richard, you may be able to fool fellow castaways, but there is no way that you can bamboozle the US government, at least not the IRS!

Former "Survivor" winner Richard Hatch, who won $1 million in the debut season of the show, was sentenced to 51 months in jail Tuesday, for failing to pay taxes. The 45-year-old reality show winner, who hated to wear clothes and was nicknamed the "naked fat guy" by talk show host David Letterman when the show aired a few years ago, was convicted in January of not paying income tax on his $1 million Survivor prize, as well as other earnings. Richard, the tribe has spoken.

Commenting on the excessive 51-month sentence, Judge Ernest Torres said he issued a harsher sentence because Hatch had committed perjury repeatedly throughout his trial. "It seems unfortunately very clear to me that Mr. Hatch lied." Hatch made a statement before his sentence was read saying, "I believe I`ve been completely truthful and completely forthcoming throughout the entire process." The Survivor millionaire claimed he thought the show`s producers would pay his taxes and pleaded ignorance about money matters, saying he "forgot" to tell his accountants about some income. The openly gay, back-stabbing dope will surely make lots of new friends in prison.
