Where Will the Next Entertaining Idea Come From
Ever wonder where writers get their ideas for novels and short stories that consistently keep you entertained? There are so many books out there on with just as many themes and ideas running through them, yet it seems that the pool of entertainment imagination never shrinks. Author Susan Walker can find ideas for writing projects almost anywhere. Her fourth novel, Secret of the Dance, came about after a conversation during the summer of 2003 with her friend, Blonnie Bunn Wyche, who lives in Wilmington.
?Blonnie was telling me that John Travolta had been filming scenes for a movie just down the street from her. That got us talking about our favorite movies with Mr. Travolta. She told me the movie she?d love to see would be where John Travolta and Patrick Swayze dance together. Something clicked and I started to tell her the story of two brothers who dance. After playing with the idea for the next week, I started writing,? Ms. Walker explained.
A heart-felt novel about pursuing dreams and being true to your heart, Secret of the Dance explores a family`s struggle to adjust to the changes caused by one son`s homecoming homecoming, a daughter growing into an independent young woman and the revelation of family secrets. ?Who knows, maybe someday Secret of the Dance will be made into a movie,? Ms. Walker said. In addition to working on her next novel, Ms. Walker runs a one-woman medical transcription service. She donates over 500 baby hats each year to hospital nurseries, sings in her church?s choir and daydreams.
