Yet Another Movie Remake
What`s the reason behind remaking movies? Perhaps it`s the entertainment industry`s pure laziness that forces them to bring a successful film back for an easy profit. If this is the reason, then the entertainment industry really needs to do their research. There are few remakes that actually get great reviews, most of them are poor depictions of the originals, or they are identical to the first film. So, why on earth would production companies approve the creation of a remake that isn`t truly spectacular in its own right?
Take the newest thing to hit cinemas across the country: "The Omen". This film, originally released in 1976, was considered to be a horror classic. One of the scariest movies of all time, it still manages to send shudders down your spine, as a remake, however, it is nothing more than just another scary movie. Why? Because it is identical to the original, they even used the same writer to improve upon his own script! With the exception of modern additions, such as cellular phone usage, the movie is almost line for line when compared to its very entertaining counterpart.
For those of you entertainment fans who never saw "The Omen" in its original grandeur, this movie is not all that bad. As a new film, it is pretty scary, it manages to keep you at the edge of your seat and also makes you pretty freaked out of little boys. On that note, perhaps Michael Jackson should check out the movie, it may be a good therapeutic remedy to his, um, "problem". Anyway, the movie got 2 out of 4 stars, although if it wasn`t reviewed as a remake, chances are it would have gotten around 3.
