A Tabloid`s Apologize for Britney Spears Stories
Two articles about the upcoming Britney`s and Kevin`s divorce were published by a British edition of The National Enquirer in the entertainment section: "Britney marriage is over!" and "Britney and Kevin: And now their divorce!" However, now the tabloid has apologized for both of them.
It was said that they (the tabloid) "now accept that their marriage is not over and they are not getting divorced. These allegations are untrue and we now accept Britney`s position that the statements are without foundation. We apologize for any distress caused." The tabloid`s lawyer and the entertainment diva`s lawyer settled on a published apology, without any cash damages.
Kevin Federline, 28 and the 24-year-old entertainment princess were married in September 2004.They have a 10-month-old son, Preston, and Britney is pregnant with their second child, which is about to be born this fall. Britney`s layer said that "the couple is very satisfied with the Enquirer`s prompt and good-faith response". He verifies that the National Enquirer would not be sued and will not be required to publish the apology in the United States. The British and Irish law about such cases usually requires the magazine to prove the truthfulness of its claims, while the U.S. is stricter about the entertainment stars. That is one of the reasons Britney`s lawyer decided to proceed with the lawsuit.
