Brad Pitt was Shocked by the Damage Caused by Katrina Hurricane

The number one entertainment star Brad Pitt was visiting New Orleans in order to choose ecologically sound designs for rebuilding neighborhoods. The actor was not prepared to see what he saw and was extremely shocked by the devastation that still remains in the area today, almost a year since the disaster.

"There`s a big opportunity here," said Pitt, "to rebuild the city using energy-efficient building materials and appliances that would improve quality of life, particularly in low-income communities". Global Green USA, a national environmental organization, is working with Pitt on the design project. Brad Pitt, who is interested not only in entertainment now, is the leader of a jury of architects, city residents and others who decided on the top five environmentally friendly designs out of more than 100 entries. The designs were presented by individuals as well as architect firms.

Pitt admits the new designs, which use energy-saving materials, might not reflect the historic architecture often found in New Orleans. But, he said, it`s time to look to the future and it is not possible to imitate the past. The finalist of the design project will be announced on Monday, an event which can be considered by some as important as an entertainment competition winner .
