Even American Idols Fall Sometimes

Katharine McPhee may have been many peoples favorite during the 5th season of "American Idol", but it seems that the singing sensation hasn`t always been her own biggest fan. Recently, in a People Magazine interview the newest member to the entertainment industry stated that she has had an eating disorder for years. No, this was not the reason why the singer dropped 30lbs during "American Idol", actually this is part of her cure.

McPhee has been battling with bulimia for several years and at one point the singer believed that it was this disorder that would keep her from become a star in the entertainment industry. Let`s face it, throwing up 5-7 times a day is not a good way to preserve your vocal cords, in fact it may be the quickest way to completely deteriorate singing abilities. As a result of this, McPhee decided to enter a three-month treatment program that would help her treat her disorder.

This all happened right before the contestant began her journey on "American Idol", and today she is telling the world so people can benefit from her story. "When I made it onto `American Idol,` I knew that food -- my eating disorder -- was the one thing really holding me back", said McPhee in the interview with People. Luckily for her, she was able to fight her food addiction and make it to the top of the show. With a new record contract and her single being a mega-success, it will not be surprising if McPhee will be in the entertainment industry for years to come.
