Washington believes that her mother was `always there for her` growing up, and now that the tides have turned, she states `I`ll be there for her however long she needs me.` This talented lady happens also to be a Nursing Administrator for a local Assisted Living Facility near the Fort Lauderdale area and states `My compassion for people, passion for life and many life experiences daily is what I express when I write and sing my songs.
The 19th Annual Riverwalk Blues Festival was postponed on its original date of November 4th, 2005 after hurricane Wilma came to Fort Lauderdale in late October and blew away any chance of a great festival. Mary is also schedule to perform at the Downtowner Saloon in Fort Lauderdale on January 21,2006 for those of you who would like to see her in a more intimate setting. The Downtowner is one of the Blues Festival sponsors and one of the oldest restaurants in the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk section. The Downtowner is now serving up some of the best blues from in and out of the area along with great food and a `oh so friendly` atmosphere. Washington-Brooks will be serving up tunes from her `Rock Your World` CD released earlier this year and putting her personal spin on old blues favorites. Mary wrote seven of the ten songs on the `Rock Your World` CD and is executive producer of the CD. News is circulating in Blues circles that this Florida girl is one of the hottest talents on the music scene to date, she is bringing a lot of fresh twist and movement to the blues after taking nearly a ten year hiatus from the music to take care of her ailing 85yr old mother.
