New Author Wins First Place For Best First Novel
Teresa Slack, a new author, has made big waves with her first novel, Streams of Mercy, the first in a series of Jenna`s Creek novels. And at the 2005 BAIPA Awards Slack received the top prize for first place. The Bay Area Independent Publishers Association presented the prize for Best First Novel.
Teresa Slack writes from her Latham, Ohio home which she shares with her husband and teenage son. She is also the author of A Tender Reed, and Redemption`s Song (the second in the Jenna`s Creek series) and several short stories, mainly suspense. Her devotions have appeared in the Upper Room magazine.
`Author Teresa Slack creates a compelling plot in her debut novel. Jamie has a strong, consistent, and realistic voice throughout the novel as do the other characters. Rather than peachiness, Slack allows flawed characters to suffer the consequences of their sins and come to their own determination of a need for God and a renewal of their relationship with Him. The pacing of the book enhances the read. Instead of dragged out descriptive passages that show rather than tell, Slack creates descriptive movement. The book has red herrings keeping readers guessing until the end. This book would be a good addition to any mystery lover?s library.`
