The Challenger Shuttle Featured in New Story

One piece of news currently holds the record for the most talked about and interest-producing story in the United States. And that story is about The Challenger shuttle disaster. This piece of history is discussed in a new story from Scoutmaster Bill Tolbert and his Boy Scout Troop. Their troop American flag was on board. They had hoped to watch it fly into space only to see it, along with their shuttle and its courageous crew, blown away and lost forever?or so they thought.

This is a story with tremendous appeal to all Americans. The Boox Review said this book is `Infectious inspiration for the Yankee Doodle Dandy in every American.` Midwest Book Review called it, `Inspired reading!` Boys` Life said, `Threads of Honor is guaranteed to give you goose bumps.` Former astronaut Guy Bluford, the first African American astronaut, said, `This is an inspiring story that makes me proud to have been an astronaut, proud to be an American, and proud to be an Eagle Scout.` Written by novelist Gordon Ryan, and featuring an extensive appendix of information about the American flag, this is a truly uplifting story of patriotism and of triumph over adversity.

The amazing part of this story is that, nine months later, this flag was recovered, intact and completely unscathed, from the Challenger wreckage at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. The flag was returned to the troop, and the troop and their flag were honored at the Constitution Bicentennial celebration in Philadelphia the following year. January 28th, 2006 marks the twentieth anniversary of the Challenger disaster. What more fitting way to remember the brave astronauts who perished in service to their country than to recognize the amazing American flag that accompanied their final mission.
