`Uplifting Minds II` Talent Competition
The `Uplifting Minds II` entertainment conference`s national talent competition showcase by SonyBMG International`s will take place on February 18th and 19th, 2006. A&R representative Noemi Torres will serve on the panel of judges at the Westfield Foxhill Shoppingtown mall starting at 1 p.m. Kelvin Garvanne, Emmy Award winning actor, will host a seminar on `creating a career in entertainment`.
Noemi Torres says her main functions are to A&R and consult for SonyBMG International through her company Kestebray Entertainment Artist Development & Management. `My primary function is to discover new talent to launch internationally focusing on the European market,` Torres stress. `I set up European tours for new artists to promote them and get them exposure in countries like the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, Sweden and Spain.`
Emmy Award winning actor Kelvin Garvanne is a graduated of Georgetown University School of African and Latin American Affairs, has lived abroad in South America, Colombia and Europe, and is fluent in Spanish and Italian. His history in entertainment came many years ago when he had the opportunity to work with Spike Lee, obtaining funding for his first film, She`s Gotta Have It. Garvanne went on to gain a re-occurring role on daytime series One Life To Live.
