Malian-American Journalist Releases Poetry Book

Coumba Makalou, a Malian-American journalist, has recently released her first book of poetry or spoken word pieces to rave reviews and international distribution. She has accomplished this through Lulu Books, the world`s fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books.

Reflections of My Blackie`s Soul is a 57-page book with poems that read like confessionals and lesson`s learned from relationships, cultural differences, and general life experiences. The collection of poems includes spoken word style pieces, along with simple prose that flows with elegant candidness about the author`s reflections on racially and culturally mixed relationships, friendship, love and politics.

`Independent publishing and print-on-demand has helped me accomplish more in one day then I could have ever dreamed of,` said Coumba Makalou. `The Lulu process has allowed me to share my book with the world and still have control of my marketing and royalties.` Coumba Makalou wrote the book to encourage author creative souls to have the courage to bear their soul through their chosen creative outlet. She wanted to show the world that poetry and art cannot be defined and are only reflections of ourselves and experience we want to share with others. She came to Lulu because she wanted to be in control of the publishing process and found Lulu`s print-on-demand tools to be fast, easy and, most importantly, free. Reflections of My Blackie`s Soul is available for purchase at lulu, in a marketplace filled with other unique and wonderful surprises.
