Famous Makeup Artist Kills Spouse Before Committing Suicide
Hailie D?Amore, the makeup artist who was nominated for an Oscar for her work on the movie, ?Forrest Gump? was found dead in her home, alongside her husband. Police believe that the 64 year old shot her photographer husband, Richard, before turning the gun on herself. Coroners believe that the incident was a murder-suicide.
In 1994, Hailie, together with two other people was nominated for ?Best Makeup Artist? on the popular movie, ?Forrest Gump?. She also won an Emmy for her work on the movie, ?Normal? in 2003. Many hailed Hailie as a pioneer in the field of makeup artistry in the 1970s at a time when the industry was dominated by men. Her husband, 65-year-old Richard D?Amore was a popular photographer in the entertainment world and included Michelle Pfeiffer and Dolly Parton as his clients. The couple had been married for 22 years.
When Hailie did not turn up for work on Friday, her co-workers became worried and went to her home to look for her. They were horrified to find the dead couple and hurried to call the police. Authorities say that the fact that there was no forced entry, plus the fact that a disjointed note was found in Hailie?s handwriting at the scene of the murder, points to a unanimous conclusion that Hailie killed her husband before committing suicide. Neighbors and friends have confirmed that the couple was having marital and financial problems.
