Oprah Winfrey Gets Real

Oprah Winfrey, one of television?s most recognized faces, has decided to expand her empire. The star has announced that she is working on two reality shows for ABC Productions, a company owned by the Walt Disney Corporation. Winfrey?s company, Harpro Productions, together with ABC will introduce two prime time shows that will be screened in the United States. Dates for the new shows were not yet disclosed.

The first show, called the ?The Big Give? will incorporate eight episodes. In it, ten contestants will be given money and other resources to help others in need. Based on their ingenuity and passion for their cause, a winner will be chosen out of the ten. According to Harpro and ABC, the lucky winning contestant will be given the opportunity realize his or her ?wildest dream?. The second show, entitled, ?Your Money or Your Life? will have contestants confront real crises in their own life and make significant changes in order to get back on the road to recovery.

Oprah Winfrey celebrates 20 years in television this year. Over 30 million people worldwide watch her daytime show and she has been voted one of the most influential women of her generation. Winfrey?s production company publishes a monthly magazine, ?O? and operates her website. The film division of Harpro produces feature films and television shows. The entertainment president of ABC said that the shows would focus on ?wish fulfillment and making lives better?.
