Tickets for Diana Concert Sold out Within Minutes

Tickets for a concert that is being planned in Princess Diana?s memory by her two sons were sold out within a few minutes after they were offered for sale on the internet. Desperate fans, hoping to get a seat for July?s concert that will feature guest artists such as Elton John and the pop group, Duran Duran, whipped up 22,500 tickets within a time period of several minutes.

The organizers of the concert were hoping to prevent touts and thus limited the sale of the tickets to four per person. However, within a few minutes of the box office shutting down, tickets could be seen for sale on internet auction sites such as eBay. While the official price of tickets was 45 GB Pounds each, people could expect to pay up to five times that amount on eBay. Responding to demands by the public and concert organizers, eBay has since promised to remove all adverts that are selling these concert tickets for a profit.

The concert is due to take place at Wembley Stadium on July 1st, 2007 to commemorate the 10 years since Princess Diana?s death. Her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, are responsible for the idea and planning of the show and hope to celebrate their mother?s life and love of music and the arts through the show. Another 10000 tickets will be made available to the public next year.
