Obsessed Fan Gains Access to Linkin Park Singer?s Cell Phone Data

Famous people are constantly on the alert for fans that don?t know the difference between adulation and obsessive behavior. Chester Bennington, lead singer of the Grammy award winning group, Linkin Park has had to recently deal with a fan whose adoration for him caused her to break the law by tapping into his personal data, and even to threaten his wife.

27 year old Devon Townsend managed to use her position at Sandia National Laboratories to access the Bennington family?s cell phone data, including a list of outgoing phone calls made by the singer and his wife, and photographs downloaded onto the phone. More frighteningly, Townsend called Talinda Bennington, the lead singer?s wife, and threatened her, after hacking into her personal email account.

After federal authorities were brought onto the scene, they managed to track down the stalker to her home in Albuquerque where they found excessive material relating to Bennington, including posters, personal photographs, autographed memorabilia and even intercepted email messages. Townsend was arrested and charged with using her laboratory computer to access private information. She has since been fired from her job and her former employers categorically deny that Townsend?s computer was linked to classified information. She was released into a family member?s custody and awaits her trial.
