MTV Award Show Hosted by Jack Black


The music and entertainment channel of MTV has announced that Jack Black, the King Kong movie star, will host the annual Music Video Awards show. The entertainment show, which will take place in New York on August, 31st, will include performances by Beyonce, The Killers and Justin Timberlake

Black, the 34-year-old entertainment star, said: "Prepare yourself for a rip snortin` humdinger". Colombian-born singer Shakira and rock group Red Hot Chili Peppers and lead the nominations for this year`s awards, with seven nods each. Other nominees feature James Blunt, Christina Aguilera, Madonna and Kanye West. The entertainment award show was presented in Miami for the last two years, but now it is returning to New York. The music channel promises the entertainment fans "a little bit of that New York danger".

Justin Timberlake said he was glad MTV - which is celebrating its 25th birthday - was coming back to the city, where it held its first awards ceremony in 1984, since it had "lost a bit of its luster" in previous years, he said. It was also promised by MTV President Christina Norman that Jack Black would bring the "perfect mix of comedy, rock, irreverence and star power" to the 2006 show. So surely a lot of entertainment is expected to the fans.
