LeToya, Former Destiny`s Child Member Hits Top

Not all is always great in the entertainment business. One day you are a star, the next day you are banished by your friends. LeToya, an original member of the chart-topping girl group, together with Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and LeTavia Roberson helped co-write hits like the Grammy-winning "Say My Name." However, she was rudely booted from Destiny`s Child along with Roberson after a conflict in 2000, just after the group had its breakthrough pop success with "The Writing`s on the Wall."

While her ex-best friends went on to conquer the music and entertainment world, racking up No. 1 hits, Grammys and multiplatinum albums, LeToya`s entertainment and music career failed after several false starts and disappointments.But now LeToya is finally rising from the shadows of Destiny`s Child. She already scored a major hit with the ballad "Torn" and just released her self-titled debut album, which features fellow Houston natives Paul Wall and Mike Jones. The album hit No. 1 last week.

She is very surprised at the success of "Torn", even though she knew right away that people would be able to relate to this song. She is sad that the friendship had ended between her and other Destiny`s Child`s members, but she doesn`t hold any grudge and wishes them only success in the music and entertainment industry, as she herself is becoming "the next thing" now.
