Barry Manilow will Undergo Hip Surgery
Barry Manilow, a 63-year-old American singer and songwriter will take a break from his regular music and entertainment performance at the Las Vegas Hilton, since he needs to undergo surgery to repair torn cartilage in both his hips, said an entertainment magazine.
The entertainment star, who has a four-year contract with the hotel, suffers from labrum tears in his hips, which is a painful condition worsen by his high-energy entertainment performances, as was said in a statement by his publicist Carol Marshall.
Manilow`s performances will continue through his appearance at the Emmy Awards on August 27, after which he will have outpatient arthroscopic surgery at a Southern California hospital. He is supposed to be in recovery and rehabilitation about eight weeks. This way Manilow will miss about 20 music and entertainment concerts at the Hilton, all of which will be rescheduled for the 2007 season. He is about to return in mid-October for the launch of his new album, "The Greatest Songs of the Sixties", which is a continue-record to his 2006 album "The Greatest Songs of the Fifties".
