Entertainment and News? Better On TV

Even though the Internet has entered almost every home, for the daily entertainment and news 50 percent of the Americans are still turning to the TV, according to the new study of Americans` media consumption. However one-third of U.S. residents get their news online, versus only 2 percent of the population a decade ago, the web users` public has grown more slowly since 2000 and is skewing older.

The survey found that younger generation is less likely than fortysomethings to turn to online entertainment and news sources. And yet it is too soon for TV to celebrate victory. Both local and network entertainment and news programs continue to decline steeply.

The study also found that the interest in the international news and entertainment has declined. Less and less people, for instance, are interested in knowing what is going on in Iraq. Only 39% of the surveyed said they followed international news "most of the time," compared with 52% two years ago. And 43% said they closely followed news from Iraq, down from 54% two years ago. So what is going to be the future of TV entertainment and news? The answer is not quite clear yet.
