Sweet Candy Convention
Candy making fans and confectioners around the country, your attention please: The Retail Confectioners International will be holding a candy convention this week which will last through the weekend, from September 21st ? 24th in Anaheim. Approximately 90 members of the RCI from throughout North America will convene for their annual fall candy convention. Attending chairs Mike Harrigian, Rancho Dominguez, and Dennis Witzel will preside over the conference. Mike Harrigian is the Vice President of Helen Grace Chocolates, and Dennis Witzel is from Peter`s Chocolate Company in Lititz, Pennsylvania. The conference includes candy plant tours, educational programs and networking opportunities for attendees, all of whom are candy makers or suppliers to the industry. From small `mom and pop` family-owned businesses to large multi-million dollar corporations, RCI provides a forum for confectioners to meet, network, share ideas, solve mutual problems, and develop their candy making and entrepreneurial skills. `The RCI has not come to southern California in over 10 years,` notes Harrigian. `This will be a wonderful opportunity to share some of our confection-making techniques and retailing insights. At our Lynwood factory, we`ll be running the caramel depositor line to make our popular pecan pokies (a caramel pecan patty covered in milk chocolate). We`ll also be making our chocolate truffles on our molding line. Our Lynwood factory outlet store will showcase some of our fall merchandise.`
