Hamptons International Film Festival Features `In Memorium`
Erik McDowell stars in a new independent horror film, `In Memorium`, a story about Dennis Wade, a terminally ill filmmaker who begins to document his last months with motion-triggered security cameras. After a few days pass, the cameras record bizarre disturbances in the house. Dennis immediately begins to deteriorate. The film is scheduled to premiere at the 13th Annual Hamptons` International Film Festival. The psychological thriller will screen Thursday, October 20th at 9:30 pm, and Friday, October 21st at 11 pm at the UA theatre on Main Street in East Hampton.
The film costars Johanna Watts (CSI: Miami), Levi Powell (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World), and Mary Portser (Human Nature). McDowell`s other credits include `Tre`, `Wide Awake in Nothing`, and the TV show `Cold Case`. `In Memorium` was directed by Amanda Gusack (`The Anniversary`) and produced by Lydia Cedrone and Meredith Freeman.
McDowell recalls his Long Island youth and his early fondness for cinema, `My love of film began when I was very young. My first memorable movie experience was at the Sayville Theatre on Railroad Avenue. It was `Star Wars`...I was mesmerized by the light saber duel between Obi Wan and Darth Vader. It was as if I had entered a different world.` McDowell also credits his parents for his early exposure to the arts. `...I was introduced to theatre at the Gateway Playhouse in Bellport. It was a production of Peter Pan. The flying and effects just blew my imagination.`
