New Novel `Take Me` Reveals Romance in Stanford

Standford graduate, Nyree Belleville, better known as Bella Andre (her pen name) earned her Bachelor`s in Economics in 1994, lives in the Sonoma wine country, and writes romance novels. `When I was getting my degree at Stanford and reading my favorite novels between all nighters, I never dreamt that I`d end up writing sexy romances,` says the writer. Her new novel will dispel the myth that life in Standford University is sexless. Take Me, which will be published in November by Pocket Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

`The big joke on campus is that no one ever has sex,` says Andre, who graduated from Stanford University in 1994 with a Bachelor`s in Economics. Take Me, a romantic fantasy that sweeps from San Francisco to the rolling hills of Tuscany, is the story of a plus-sized heroine whose self-esteem gets a much needed makeover. She has recently sold two additional novels to Simon & Schuster, both based in Napa Valley. Prior to writing romance novels, Andre recorded four folk-pop CDs and worked as Director of Marketing for a dot-com company.

Andre was eight-and-a-half months pregnant with her first child when her literary agent called to tell her that Simon & Schuster wanted to buy her debut novel. `I was so excited, I was jumping up and down and momentarily forgot I was pregnant. Fortunately (or not, depending on how you look at it), I didn`t go into labor until my due date, two weeks later.`
