Soap Opera Digest Turns 30

America`s #1 source of celebrity news and program information on soaps, Soap Opera Digest, is proud to announce its 30th Anniversary Issue! The top 21 star covers from the past have been re-created with the magazine`s most famous faces for this issue. This is how the magazine`s Editorial Director, Lynn Leahey is thanking her loyal readers for keeping Soap Opera Digest the No. 1 soap magazine as she prepares for 30 more years. `Daytime has changed dramatically over the years, but the audience is as passionate as ever about their stories and favorite stars.`

When the magazine was founded in 1975, the three networks were broadcasting ten hours of soaps every weekday. M*A*S*H and All In The Family were at the top of their popularity, current Passions` star, Juliet Mills had won an Emmy for her performance in an ABC primetime special, Billie Jean King won Wimbledon, ABC, CBS and NBC had agreed to create a prime-time `family hour`, Saturday Night Live premiered on NBC and One Flew Over The Cuckoo`s Nest swept the Oscars.

A montage of covers from the past 30 years is a walk down memory lane. The Young & The Restless star, Eric Braeden (Victor) has been featured in 39 cover stories, General Hospital`s Maurice Benard (Sonny) has 36 cover stories as does Days of Our Lives` Deidre Hall (Marlena) and Drake Hogestyn (John). Other notables are Melody Thomas Scott, Peter Reckell, Alison Sweeney, Kristian Alfonso, Kristina Wagner, and Melissa Reeves?all with over 25 cover stories.
