Concert Attendee Buys Souvenirs
Music fan Adolphous Festitus attended a rock-and-roll performance Friday evening and was impulsively driven to purchase clothing at the door, namely, a T-shirt.
"I don`t know what happened," said a still-dazed Festitus, "One minute I`m banging my head to a tight beat and some wailing guitars, and the next I`m plunking down 25 bones for some clothing."
Continued Festitus, "Dude."
Far from an isolated incident, Festitus` actions represent a common occurrence known as the Concert-Related Apparel Purchase, or C.R.A.P., phenomena. According to researchers, patrons often spontaneously acquire a range of over-priced paraphernalia during or immediately following a rock-and-roll act, from stickers to beer "coozies". But it is the ",concert Tee", that remains the most common impulse buy, providing wearable proof of show attendance.
C.R.A.P. researcher Dr. Sachin Darji explains: "Numerous societal and environmental factors contribute to the commonality of rock concert T-shirt acquisition. For some it is borne of a need for peer acceptance. For others it is a desire to demonstrate superiority over non-attendees. Or sometimes it`s just that a show seriously, seriously rocked."
