Brad Pitt in the hospital

Film star Brad Pitt is suffering from the symptoms of flu and has been admitted to a Los Angeles hospital a week after returning from a trip to East Africa, his publicist said on Tuesday.

"He`s fine. We think he has the flu," publicist Cindy Guagenti said. "They are just doing a couple tests."

Pitt, who split up with his wife Jennifer Aniston earlier this year traveled to Ethiopia last week with actress Angelina Jolie, his co-star in the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," who went there to finalize adoption of a baby girl.

Guagenti said Pitt checked in to the Los Angeles hospitalon Monday night and was to be released as early as Tuesday. She did not know what exact symptoms prompted the hospitalization.
