Elliott Smith, Local Artist, is a T-Shirt Hit
Elliott Smith, a local artist from Orlando, Florida, has added his artistic touch and created a new look for the 2nd Annual Winter Park Boat Parade & Festival of Lights. The parade took place Saturday, December 3rd, and was a success. He sold his commemorative T-shirts, on which he redesigned the logo for the event, and sold them for $17 each to help support the Albin Polasek Museum. His artwork will also be highlighted at the annual Boat Parade on Saturday, December 10th, starting at 6p.m. on Lake Virginia and Lake Osceola.
Smith, a 24-year-old commercial artist who graduated from University of Florida magna cum laude, redesigned the logo to help his favorite holiday tradition make a unique splash. He has been designing T-shirts and logos since the age of 14 and has gained national recognition for his work in creating popular commemorative shirt designs.
The accomplished artist explains his motivation for focusing his talents on the design, `Having spent so much of my time with the Orlando/Winter Park community, I was excited to begin my own involvement with the Boat Parade as now a young professional eager to be a part of the local community.` He added, `I see it as my chance to offer my own personal, professional, artistic touch to a community that for so many years I only watched go on as a kid, and am looking forward to seeing it all come together in a successful, cohesive event that I know everyone will enjoy and look forward to again next year.` This versatile artist also performs as a singer, songwriter, and pianist in the Stillbreak music group who just recorded their second CD.
