Chef Tyler Florence Promotes Fresh Flavors
Chef Tyler Florence, popular Food Network host and author of the new cookbook `Eat This Book: Cooking with Global Fresh Flavors,` will host a weekly Web log, or blog, to record his adventures as he sets sail in July on an eight-week-long world tour of exotic foods and flavors. Florence`s blog postings will be updated each week for eight weeks so food fans can get up-to-date information and recipes.
`I`m eager to get families back into the kitchen during the summer and experimenting with fresh and exotic tastes they might otherwise consider exclusive to a certain global region,` says Florence. `You don`t need to travel to Italy for authentic Italian cuisine, and thats the lesson visitors can take from my blog.`
Each of Florence`s blog postings will include simple recipe preparation guides and information about the global regions Florence visits, enabling kids to get involved in discovering the flavors of world cultures. Children, for instance, will discover that inhabitants of the ancient and ill-fated city of Pompeii enjoyed their pizza with anchovies.
Florence will share some of his trade secrets for cooking with fresh flavors as well as several of his favorite, easy-to-prepare recipes developed along the way on his exciting journey. `As a chef, I use convenience foods because they can bring global flavors to my kitchen any time of year. My pantry is loaded with versatile canned products like tomatoes that remind me of the Italian sunshine,` Florence says. `My recipes and the hundreds of terrific recipes combine the ease of preparation you want with the nutritional value you and your family need.`
