Opening Gala for Internationally Acclaimed Denver Artist
September 20, 2004 -- The Space Gallery is hosting an opening gala for Heather Roraback on October 23rd, 7 - 10pm, to launch a special exhibition of her paintings. The gala will be open to the public and will bring Roraback"s abstract evocations of nature and emotion together with scrumptious hors d"oeuvres, wine and music.
The exhibition will highlight Roraback"s "Art for Living Spaces" style which has enjoyed growing popularity. "Art for Living Spaces" acknowledges how art is part of the physical space and life where it hangs. As a result Roraback"s work has become especially popular with architects and designers who have showcased her work in prestigious homes and places of business on four continents.
Roraback"s vivid daydreams provide inspiration for her modern manifestations, most often resulting in thick, earthen textures. While daydreams provide inspiration, Roraback as an escape from the pain of her chronic migraines, only paints at night. Look deeply into one of Roraback"s paintings and you too will find dreams and catharsis amid the swirling hues and layers. Look deeper and you will see how the life in the painting reflects the "Living Space" surrounding the work.
Ms. Roraback grew up in Denver and now resides in Seattle. She paints with acrylic and oils. Her main artistic influences are Jackson Pollack and Mark Rothko. The artist will be in attendance at the Gala.
