Halliburton to Hire 13 Thousand Employees During 2007
Halliburton, the oil services company, intends to add 13 thousand employees to its work force, during 2007, a company memo sent to the company`s employees by Chief Operating Officer Andrew Lane reported. In the memo Lane wrote: "It is our expectation that our planned growth for 2007 to 2009 will mean that we will hire more than 13,000 new employees in 2007. This will include growth in our Houston employment numbers."
Halliburton said that it is continuing to grow at the same pace it has in 2006, when it hired over 13 thousand employees. David Lesar opened the company`s new corporate headquarters in Dubai, Sunday. The company, formerly run by US Vice-President Dick Chaney, drew fire, as well as, allegations that the move was intended to reduce taxes paid in the US. The company refuted the claims saying the move to Dubai will not reduce tax payments and that the plan is intended to generate further growth in the company`s Eastern Hemisphere business, which already generated 38% of the company`s profits in 2006.
Currently, Halliburton employs 45 thousand employees World-wide. The company has operations in over 120 countries. Though Chairman and CEO David Lesar and other executives will have their offices and will work in Dubai, the corporate headquarters will remain in Houston. Halliburton operates two major business segments: The Energy Services Group provides technical products and services for oil and gas exploration and production, and the KBR subsidiary, a major construction company of refineries, oil fields, pipelines, and chemical plants.
