Namibia Didn`t Cover Former Comverse Executive
You can run, but you can`t hide. Well, the former chief executive of Comverse Technology, Jacob Alexander, probably thought that running will help him. However, notorious fugitives from law can be tracked even as far away as Namibia. This time the honor of seizing Mr. Alexander belongs to the local authorities, hence he is about to be taken into the local court.
Yet, it`s doubtful that the U.S. authorities will pass on a chance to charge Mr. Alexander with money-laundering and conspiracy. So, most probably the U.S. government will apply all its efforts to extradite him from Namibia. This actually creates some problems, since there is no agreement between U.S.A and Namibia regarding extradition. According to various vague sources the businessman stayed in Namibia with his family and probably was not expecting any trouble to come.
This carelessness was pretty na?ve on the side of Mr. Alexander. The story of Comverse has been the subject of constant rumors this summer, with people in the business world suggesting various outcomes of the scandal. After the investigation, which began this spring, regarding the amending of the dates of options that company`s executives have received, the scheming that took place behind the scene was exposed. In a plot worth to be featured in a suspense novel Mr. Alexander managed to earn more than a little cash. For what it`s worth, Mr. Alexander shouldn`t be too shocked with the attention he is getting from the government.
