Tobacco Businesses Are Under Attack Again

Recently, healthy lifestyle has become somewhat of a trend. Although the intentions of this "trend" are noble, no argument here, it still has various effects on different fields of life. For instance, the cigarette magnates are not at all too happy to appreciate the "healthy" lifestyle. Tobacco businesses have become the scapegoat of the "healthy" ideology and often have to take the blame for numerous misfortunes. Well, another major lawsuit is in store for the tobacco businesses.

A New York court has allowed a $200bn lawsuit to proceed against the tobacco companies. To be more exact, this time the ones to blame is the manufacturers of the so called "light" cigarettes and they have some unpleasant explanations to give. The main accusation is connected to the marketing mechanisms of the tobacco businesses regarding the "lights". Supposedly, the tobacco manufacturers have positioned "light" cigarettes" as less harmful to the health. Although, companies claim that no special accent was made on the "less harmful" promotion, they are still about to face a serious suit.

However, tobacco business is not too scared. Many large manufacturers already faced numerous serious lawsuits over the last few years and managed to come out undamaged after every single one. The lawyer are claiming, and for a reason, that it is extremely hard to prove that the people were purchasing the "light" brands solely as a result of their "health" consideration. However unpleasant the situation is for the tobacco manufacturers most chances are that they will find a way to defend themselves.
