Girls Don`t Want to Pursue Business Careers
A recent study among school students is about to contradict a popular notion: that we live in the world of equality. It seems that when it comes to career choices, the "little women" amongst us think otherwise. According to the recent study that examined 3,000 girls and 1,200 boys in various schools nationwide, most girls do not see their future in business. Only 9 percent of girls claimed that they would pursue a career in business, which raises several important questions.
So when did the business world become so unattractive to girls? It seems that compassion is one of the aspects that play a huge role in choosing the future career. And you will not find a lot of that when it comes to business. It appears to be, according to the study, that girls tend to empathize more than boys and this fact is reflected in their career choices. For instance, a large number of girls had selected careers that involve helping others, such as medicine, law and architecture.
Another possible reason for the girls` lack of enthusiasm regarding business is the future family concerns. Many girls are likely to demonstrate some concern as to how their future career will affect their family life. Business is a very demanding field of work that most girls find overwhelming. None the less, some girls are still attracted to business and plan on making it big in this field. Although most girls are not drawn to business, those interested in that type of career are more then willing to succeed.
