Face-cream Commercial Banned by the Authorities

The key to successful business is good advertisement. Therefore, most companies invest both money and ideas into their ads in order to attract potential customers. As we all know the ideas for various commercials must be original and attention-grabbing. The same old commercial with the "innovative": "our product is simply better than product X" just doesn`t do the trick anymore. That`s why most businesses prefer to invent something new and often shocking to draw the clientele and make them purchase the desired item.

However, not all companies are entitled to use something entirely unconventional. For instance, cosmetic and make-up businesses must use a mildly traditional scheme to attract the buyers. Thus, the main point of most companies that deal with cosmetics, when it comes to advertising, is proving that their product is the most beneficial for both health and beauty. However, looks like Clinique has taken this a step too far in promoting its new anti-aging face cream, and the ad was banned for using false allegations by the Advertising Standards Authority.

According to ASA, the advertisement was misleading the customers in its claims regarding the testing of the cream. Turns out, the face cream was tested in laboratories and not on actual people and those tests that did take place "in the field" were actually used on people`s forearms and not on the face. And the forearms, as we all know, are not exactly the most wrinkled place in a person`s body.
