Teen Magazines Become Obsolete
It seems that the 90`s were only a blink away, however, years go by and things change. Teen magazines appeared to be extremely popular in the previous years, nevertheless today this niche is filled with technologically advanced means of communication. This is a truly hot spot to fill, teens always like to be updated on the latest fashion and trends, and to read about the show-biz stars. What used to capture the hearts and minds of the younger audience in the late nineties, magazines like "Seventeen", Teen Vogue and Elle Girl, don`t cut it anymore.
Of course, such an attitude towards the whole industry automatically hurts the profits of the business. Several teen-fashion magazines are closing down, and begin to invest all their money and efforts into their websites. In the early 2005 YM Magazine closed down, therefore clearing the field for more technologically enhanced means of communication. The teen audience doesn`t have that same urge to read the magazines anymore. The trend today is to share the information regarding fashion through mobile phones.
Then, on the other side there is the Internet. Young people today make up an enormous percent of all Web-users. Hence, the main attraction for today is the interactive scene. For instance, the publishers of the Elle Girl have noticed a certain tendency in their field. As soon as they pulled out the once-so-popular magazine from the news stands, the traffic on the magazine`s website increased significantly. Thus, maybe it`s time to leave the glossy magazines behind, and go hand in hand with modern technology.
