Hot Coffee for Cold Russia

There are some businesses in the world that have major influence on the global economics, and are commercially worthy to spread out around the world. No one is going to argue with the notion that a chain like McDonalds is a major deal around the world. Similar success stories apply to coffee-chains like Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and places like Burger King. Thus, many people have been wondering as to why an extremely popular coffee-chain like Starbucks is still missing in some countries.

Well, according to the article published in The Moscow Times, Starbucks will finally appear in Russia. The first impression is that this should have been achieved a long time ago. Fast-food businesses like McDonalds have proven to be mega-popular in Russia, and are considered the place to eat. The Coffee Bean has also made its mark on the Russian scene, drawing thousands of customers in Moscow. However, there were, and are, a few problems with the expansion of Starbucks into the Russian scene.

For starters, up until now, the Starbucks logo was occupied by a Russian company. However, with this problem resolved, the coffee-chain will still have to overcome some setbacks. For instance, analysts say that there might appear some problems with the expansion of Starbucks into the Russian context. For instance, the coffee-house culture is not that trendy in Russia, the concept of ordering coffee "to-go" is not too admired and the Russian crowd prefers to finish off with a cup of coffee after a satisfying meal.
