Creating the right impression at an outside meeting

With Wi-Fi access spreading at incredible speed into coffee places about town and even MacDonalds, more and more business owners are using them to meet clients and hold one on one presentations. Especially small business owners, just starting out and trying hard to expand the customer base while remaining within a small budget are attracted to these kind of meeting places.

But this could be a typical case of false economies. While such a background might be acceptable for small clients, or informal business chats, the more important the client that you are trying to woo is, the more money is on the line, and the higher you set the goals for your business the more you need to make sure that everything you do reflects your professionalism and togetherness. Meeting in a crowded coffee place at lunchtime does not cut it. Especially when your resources are limited, you, what you do, how you present yourself and the environment you choose to conduct business in, are your number one marketing tools.

You have to make sure that wherever you meet your clients you control your environment. You don?t want noisy disruptions, rude waitresses or dirty tables. Find original spaces that say good things about you, successful things. No, I don?t mean libraries, book stores, and hotel lobbies. Face it: you won`t get what you want for nothing. And that`s alright. There are more and more conference centers, offices for short-term rent, and business centers catering exactly to your needs, providing you with all the equipment you need to impress in a strong, business focused, high quality environment. It might cost you more that your average donut plus coffee, but it might just be the most important investment you make for your business.
