US Companies Could Save Millions by Outsourcing White-Collar Jobs

A new study has shown that American companies could save of millions of dollars annually if they outsourced ?white-collar? jobs to overseas destinations. The strategic advisory firm, the Hackett Group estimate that thousands of companies could technically shift hundreds of thousands of administrative jobs to distant shores and save up to 70% of salary costs. Outsourcing to more remote areas in the US only brings about a 20% saving in labor costs.

The Hackett Group did not limit the type of job descriptions to call center operators. More and more companies are learning to have greater confidence in the abilities of overseas workers in the Information Technology and financial fields. The study shows that if US companies did some re-analyzing of their present situation, they would find that outsourcing could save their company millions.

The new study, which will be officially released in the coming days, claims that over the next decade, more than 1.47 million US jobs could be affected by an increase in white-collar outsourcing. For an average Fortune 500 company, that translates to almost 3000 jobs. By finding workers in countries such as the Philippines, Pakistan, India and China where the education and skill levels are on the rise, top American companies could save up to $58-billion annually (roughly $116-million per company).
