iVillage is an Internet site that is exclusively designed with a woman in mind. Sites such as iVillage and the Lifetime channel are great for women around the globe as they always have great ideas for every aspect of life, daily and otherwise. NBC recently decided to better their business with women by buying out iVillage.
NBC Universal bought woman`s internet portal, iVillage, for an estimated $600 million. According to NBC, a unit of General Electric (GE), the move helps the entertainment company attract "a key demographic of the NBC Universal audience". Bob Wright, chief executive of NBC Universal, talks about the deal, saying, "Acquiring iVillage will enable us to bring our programming to a large and passionate online community."
He continues, "We look forward to building on the considerable brand strength iVillage has developed over the past 10 years and to giving our advertising clients new and exciting ways to reach a valuable demographic". Overall, this seems like the perfect next step for NBC as they will have the ability to market their business to woman all over the world easily and quickly.
