Violent Clash Between Portugal and Netherlands

It is hard to call the display between Netherlands and Portugal a soccer game. Fighting over one ticket to face England at World Cup quarterfinals got to the players and the match became a brutal and violent clash. FIFA referee lost it during the second half and handed out 16 yellow cards ? matching FIFA`s all time record for a World Cup match. Four players were removed from the game after getting red cards and both teams had players lying on the field injured.

Portugal scored on the 23rd minute and Nuno Maniche secured the ticket for Portugal. The mayhem on the field during the second half of the game had benefited Portugal and Netherlands was not able to produce any goals. This game will be remembered for many years as one of the most violent matches in World Cup`s history. FIFA will have many questions to answer and the referee`s behavior will have to be investigated.

Portugal will face England on their way to the semifinals and Luiz Felipe Scolari will have to think of something as he lost two players during the clash with Netherlands. Anderson Deco was handed a red card and will miss the match against England, and Portugal`s top player Ronaldo was injured during the first half and had to be replaced. Scolari knocked out England twice before and the match between the two teams will be a very interesting soccer display, if, in fact, they will play soccer.
