Consumer Advocate Terminated by Political Blog

Political commentator Arianna Huffington`s online newspaper/blog, the "Huffington Post", yesterday terminated former Pfizer Vice President and consumer advocate Peter Rost`s access to the site after he wrote an investigative article about an anonymous heckler who had been stalking his blog. The heckler turned out to be the "Huffington Post"`s own technology manager.

Dr. Peter Rost became fairly well known in 2004 when he emerged as the first pharmaceutical company executive to speak out in favor of reimportation of drugs into America. His fight for lower priced drugs was covered by radio and television broadcasts, among them CBS news magazine "60 Minutes." Since being fired from Pfizer, Dr. Rost filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Pfizer, Inc., on December 12, 2005.

The article which caused the consumer advocate to be suspended from the "Huffington Post", where it is often the case that celebrities post their own opinions, usually differing from the Bush administration and Republicans, said that "In order for the Huffington Post to maintain its credibility, the site needs to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest or rigged rankings." Dr. Rost, self-proclaimed whistleblower, was then denied access to his blog on the site.
