World Cup Burgers on Sale in U.K.
Fast-food giant McDonald?s has been offering a unique hamburger in the United Kingdom these days in connection with the World Cup, currently being held to the south of the U.K. on the European continent, specifically in the Federal Republic of Germany. 40% larger than the traditional Big Mac, the World Cup burger is likely set to last for the duration of the international soccer tournament, which started on June 9, 2006 and will last until July 9, 2006, and is only being offered in Britain.
According to a McDonald?s spokesman in the U.K., ?The World Cup burger promotion is designed to offer football (as they call soccer in Europe and elsewhere in the world) fans a little bit more of what they love during the tournament. It is a limited-edition offer, something a bit special for Big Mac fans in the United Kingdom.? The McDonald?s spokesman went on to say that the World Cup burger ?fits with our marketing strategy around the World Cup, which is focused on bringing the excitement of the tournament to life for fans in our restaurants.?
McDonald?s is no stranger to region-specific food offerings and promotions, in the Arab world one can visit a McDonald?s branch and buy a ?McArabia? sandwich, or in Israel you can buy a ?McRoyal? or a ?McShawarma? sandwich. Depending on where you are, you can buy a region-specific meal that fits your tastes at McDonald?s, though if you want a World Cup burger time is running out, and remember, you can only get it in the U.K.
